How to Register for the JLPT in New Delhi
Delhi is run by MOSAI, and its registration is first-come-first-served with a seat counter that updates while you are filling in the form. That single design choice shapes everything about how you should approach it. The deadline printed on the site is not really your deadline.

How Registration Works in New Delhi
MOSAI opens registration at a fixed hour rather than a fixed day, and seats are allocated in the order applications arrive. The site shows remaining seats and refreshes the count every thirty seconds. Levels also open on different dates: N1 and N2 go first, then N3 and N4 open later, once the July results have been released. Once you submit, the level cannot be changed.
Registration Steps
Find the opening date for your level, not for the exam
N1 and N2 open first. N3 and N4 open several weeks later, after the July results come out. Students regularly turn up on the N1 opening date for an N4 seat and find registration has not started for them yet.
Be on the portal at the opening hour
Registration has opened at 3pm rather than at midnight or at the start of a day. Seats go in order of arrival, so the first hour of the window is worth more than the last fortnight of it.
Watch the seat counter while you fill the form
The remaining-seat count refreshes every thirty seconds. If it is dropping quickly, finish the form and come back to double-check optional fields afterwards.
Choose your level carefully before submitting
MOSAI does not allow a level change after final submission. Decide between N4 and N3 before you start, not while the form is open in front of you.
Pay the fee for your level
₹2,500 for N1 and N2, ₹2,200 for N3, N4 and N5. Keep the payment confirmation until your admission ticket arrives, because until then it is your only proof the registration completed.
Collect your admission ticket
The admission ticket (受験票 / juken-hyō) carries your venue, room and seat number, and the venue is not the MOSAI office. Print it and bring photo ID matching your registration.
